Michael Owen tips Man Utd for shock Premier League position that would be disastrous for the club

Michael Owen Predicts Manchester United’s Upcoming Season and Erik ten Hag’s Future

Former Manchester United striker Michael Owen has made some bold predictions about the Red Devils’ upcoming season and the future of manager Erik ten Hag. Speaking to OLBG, Owen believes that Manchester United won’t make the top four and that ten Hag isn’t the right man for the job.

Manchester United finished eighth in the 2023/24 Premier League season, their lowest finish since the competition began in 1992. However, the club has been busy in the transfer window, signing players like Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro. Despite this, Owen remains unconvinced, stating that Manchester United were one of the first teams he discounted for the top four.

Owen predicted that Manchester United will finish seventh in the 2024/25 season, with Newcastle in fifth, Tottenham in sixth, and Chelsea below United in eighth. He also expressed his disappointment with the club’s business in the summer transfer window, stating that they’ve been throwing money at players for 15 years without seeing any significant improvement.

As for ten Hag, Owen believes that he will eventually leave the club. "If it’s 5 games, 50 games or 500 games, Erik ten Hag will go at some point," he said. If that happens, Owen thinks that new assistant manager Ruud van Nistelrooy could succeed him. "If Van Nistelrooy doesn’t leave before Ten Hag, you would think that he would get a handful of games as manager," Owen added.

It’s worth noting that Manchester United have made significant changes to their squad in recent years, but they still haven’t seen the desired results. Owen’s predictions may be bold, but they’re not entirely unfounded. The club needs to see significant improvement in the upcoming season if they want to stay competitive.
