Manchester United Goalkeeper Andre Onana Names Three Young Stars Who May Struggle This Season
As Manchester United prepare to kick off their new Premier League campaign, goalkeeper Andre Onana has spoken out about the challenges facing some of the club’s younger players. The Cameroonian stopper, who lifted the FA Cup with United last season, believes that Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo, and Amad may struggle to adapt to the demands of the Premier League.
Onana, who has established himself as one of the leaders in the United dressing room, wants to see his teammates succeed and is willing to give them time to develop. "We have Kobbie, we have Garna, we have Amad," he said in an interview with ManUtd.com. "I think that’s something nice, and we will give them time. You have to know the Premier League is not easy, it is the biggest competition in the world, so this season might be difficult for them, but they are young, we will give them time."
The 27-year-old goalkeeper, who has become a key figure at Old Trafford, also expressed his own ambitions for the season. Having won the FA Cup in his first season at the club, Onana is now targeting more silverware. "It’s not enough," he said. "Being a Manchester United player, you must win everything. You have to try and win everything. Each year you have to at least try to have one trophy."
United’s lack of European football this season has raised expectations that the team can focus on domestic competitions. Onana agrees, saying: "Now big opportunities are coming, so we have to take the opportunity, because it’s time to do everything on the pitch. When I see how we are training, when I see how my players are working hard, I’m very positive."
As the team looks to build on last season’s success, Onana’s words are a timely reminder of the challenges ahead. United’s young stars will need to step up and deliver, and the goalkeeper’s leadership will be crucial in guiding them through the tough times.
