Mbappé Not Backing Down: PSG Star Rejects Mediation Offer
Kylian Mbappé is standing firm in his dispute with Paris Saint-Germain, rejecting a mediation offer from the French soccer league’s legal commission. The French superstar, who joined Real Madrid this summer on a free transfer, is seeking €55 million in wages and bonuses from PSG.
Mbappé’s representatives met with PSG officials in Paris, but the player’s representative rejected the mediation offer, stating that it would be "useless" to record a lack of payment that could be seen from a simple analysis of the player’s payslip.
PSG, on the other hand, claims that Mbappé had made "clear, repeated public and private commitments" to respect the agreement when he was sidelined ahead of the 2023-24 season. The Ligue 1 champions argue that Mbappé allegedly stipulated that he would relinquish bonuses over his reintegration into the team.
The legal commission recommended mediation between the parties, which PSG has been seeking for months. However, Mbappé’s representatives are not budging, and the player’s relationship with PSG ended amid deep tensions during his final season at the club.
Mbappé was reportedly frustrated with PSG over unkept promises to sign key players, and his departure was a shock to the club. PSG offered him the most lucrative contract in the club’s history in 2022, but Mbappé was not satisfied.
The standoff between Mbappé and PSG could have ended in the summer of 2023, but the player rejected a €300 million move to Saudi team Al-Hilal. PSG eventually let Mbappé return to the lineup after "constructive and positive talks" between the two parties.
