Manchester United Step Up Pursuit of Juventus Star Dusan Vlahovic
Following a recommendation from assistant manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, Manchester United have reportedly stepped up their pursuit of Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic. The 24-year-old Serbian international has already made a significant impact at the Serie A giants, netting two goals in three games under new manager Thiago Motta.
Van Nistelrooy, who rejoined the club earlier this summer, has been working closely with strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee. The former Dutch international has impressed with his tactical acumen and ability to get the best out of his players. With Anthony Martial departing in the summer, the Red Devils are still light in attack, and Van Nistelrooy’s recommendation could be the catalyst for a major transfer coup.
Vlahovic has already shone with Fiorentina in the past, earning a big-money move to Juventus in January 2022. Despite being linked with Arsenal before his switch to Italy, the forward has never hidden his desire to stay in Turin. The Serbian international has been quoted as saying he’s happy to remain in Turin, but with his agent and Juventus’ director of football, Giuntoli, already in talks, the situation is far from straightforward. Former team-mate Federico Chiesa recently made the move to the Premier League, signing for Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
Manchester United’s willingness to step up their pursuit of Vlahovic is a significant development, particularly given the striker’s impressive form and European pedigree. With Bruno Fernandes tried and tested in a false nine position, the addition of Vlahovic would give Erik ten Hag a powerful attacking option.
