Inter Miami Held to 1-1 Draw as Messi Scores Again
Major League Soccer (MLS) action saw Inter Miami drop points for the third straight game, but still maintain their top spot in the Eastern Conference and Supporters Shield standings. The 1-1 draw against Charlotte FC was a frustrating one, but Lionel Messi’s goal was a highlight once again.
The Argentine superstar netted his 15th goal in as many games this season, with a clinical finish from the edge of the box. Charlotte had taken the lead through a deflected Brandt Bronico shot, but Miami’s pressure eventually told. Messi’s equalizer came just moments after he had been denied by goalkeeper Kristijan Kahlina.
Despite the draw, Miami remain on course for the playoffs and can secure the Supporters Shield with a win or draw against Columbus Crew on Wednesday. Manager Gerardo Martino expressed frustration at the result, but acknowledged the progress his team has made.
"We were a team that habitually lost for years, and now, we are a team that habitually wins, and that raises expectations," he said. "We have worked very hard to change the perception of this team, and we’ve done it having to use many different line-ups due to injuries and national team duty."

Meanwhile, the Seattle Sounders, Houston Dynamo, New York Red Bulls, New York City, LAFC, and Orlando City all secured their places in the playoffs. The Red Bulls’ 5-1 loss to New York City was a significant blow, but they still qualified thanks to other results. Orlando City’s 3-1 win over FC Dallas was a major boost to their playoff hopes, while LAFC booked their place with a 2-1 win over FC Cincinnati.
