Al Nassr CEO: Ronaldo doesn’t control the club

Ronaldo’s Influence at Al Nassr: CEO Sets the Record Straight

Cristiano Ronaldo’s influence at Al Nassr has been a topic of discussion, with some suggesting the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has a significant say in the club’s decision-making process. But Al Nassr CEO Guido Fienga has clarified the situation, stating that Ronaldo "doesn’t control the club" but does play a crucial role as captain.

Fienga was speaking at a club event on Wednesday, where he emphasized Ronaldo’s importance to the team. "He is our captain and he is the strongest player in the world not just technically but how he behaves," Fienga said. "He gives the direction of where we have to go and which are the targets we have to reach."

Ronaldo, 39, has been at Al Nassr since December 2022, scoring 62 goals for the club. Despite his success on the pitch, Al Nassr has struggled for titles, with their last piece of silverware being the Arab Club Champions Cup.

Fienga acknowledged that the club has invested heavily in new players this summer, with a reported $100 million spent on signings. He believes this injection of talent will help the club achieve their goals, stating, "We need to work and give stability to the club to work and to produce the value and not destroy the value every six months."

The Italian coach Stefano Pioli has taken over from Portuguese manager Luis Castro, who was sacked after just one win in three league games. Fienga is confident that Pioli will lead the team to success, saying, "Step by step we will improve."

With Ronaldo’s influence now clarified, it’s clear that the Portuguese captain will continue to play a vital role at Al Nassr. The question is, can the club deliver the silverware that Ronaldo and their fans crave?
