Manchester City’s Ongoing 115-Charge Hearing: What the Club’s Former Captain Says
Former Manchester City captain Richard Dunne has revealed what he’s heard from inside the club about the ongoing 115-charge hearing, and how it’s impacting the squad.
The hearing, which is expected to last around two months, is a monumental case for the Premier League and Manchester City. The defending champions are accused of breaching various Premier League rules, including failing to provide accurate financial information, failing to comply with UEFA regulations, and more. If found guilty, Manchester City could face severe punishments, including fines, points deductions, and even relegation.
But according to Dunne, the situation hasn’t affected the first-team squad. "I don’t think there’s any worry, there’s no mention of it around the place," he said. "I don’t think fans or members of the club have any real concerns over it. It is something that has been looming for a long time, so they’ve got used to the noise that comes with it."
Dunne also echoed the words of his former teammate, Aymeric Laporte, who previously stated that club chiefs told the squad that "not one rule" has been broken. Dunne added that the message of reassurance has been clear: "They believe that they’ve done the right thing and it’s not going to come back on the players."

In fact, Manchester City have always maintained their innocence, and Pep Guardiola even accused the rest of the Premier League of hoping for the defending champions to be punished before a final verdict is reached. Dunne believes that the manager has been consistent in his support for the club, and that he trusts the people he works for.
"But in terms of the players and this group that they’ve got now, I don’t think it affects them an awful lot. The manager has always been very forward and he’s been told the club’s innocent," Dunne said. "He trusts the people that he works for, so he’s happy to go on."
Despite the seriousness of the allegations, Dunne believes that the current squad is unfazed. "The way they’ve started the season, there’s been no signs of that," he said.
As the hearing continues, it’s essential to remember that Manchester City’s fate is still undecided. Will they be found guilty and face severe punishment, or will they prove their innocence and continue their dominance of the Premier League? One thing is for certain – the drama and intrigue surrounding this case are captivating fans and pundits alike.
