Liverpool Rebuff PSV Eindhoven’s Bid for Sepp van den Berg
The summer transfer window has been eerily quiet for Liverpool so far, with no major signings made to bolster their squad. But, it seems they’re not done making waves just yet. The Reds have reportedly rejected a bid from Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven for 22-year-old defender Sepp van den Berg.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, PSV made a formal offer worth around €10 million for van den Berg, but Liverpool have turned it down. It’s been reported that the Anfield club are holding out for a fee of €20 million to part ways with the Dutch youngster.
This development comes as no surprise, given van den Berg’s recent comments about his future at Liverpool. In June, he accused the club of hindering his progress, stating that he wasn’t given the opportunity to play alongside the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, and Joe Gomez. It seems like Liverpool are unwilling to let him go without getting a decent fee for him.
Van den Berg has started to make a case for himself at Liverpool, featuring in their 1-0 win over Real Betis last week. He’s also spoken highly of the club, saying that he enjoys playing for Liverpool and appreciates the style of play under new coach Arne Slot. However, it’s clear that he’s not satisfied with his current gametime and is eager to play regularly.
