Mbappé’s Quick Recovery a Boost for Real Madrid Ahead of Lille Clash
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Kylian Mbappé is available to play against Lille in the Champions League, following a thigh injury that kept him out for just over a week. The French superstar suffered the injury in Madrid’s LaLiga win over Alavés on September 24, with initial reports suggesting he would be out for around three weeks.
However, Mbappé has made a remarkable recovery, training alone yesterday and joining the Madrid squad in Lille. Ancelotti has revealed that the 24-year-old will be assessed in training today before a decision is made on whether he starts from the first minute.
Mbappé has been in stunning form this season, netting seven goals in all competitions, and his return will be a massive boost for Madrid. The European champions beat Stuttgart 3-1 in their opening Champions League game, while Lille lost 2-0 at Sporting CP.
Ancelotti Refuses to Take Responsibility for Madrid Derby Chaos
Ancelotti also addressed the controversy surrounding the Madrid derby, where the game was interrupted in the second half due to objects being thrown by Atlético fans. Atlético coach Diego Simeone and captain Koke have accused Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois of provoking the incident with his celebration of Éder Militão’s goal.
However, Ancelotti was reluctant to take responsibility, saying, "I think the issue is quite clear. There were violent acts at the game, and violent people can’t be at a football game, or in society… Everyone saw what happened."
Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni condemned the fans’ behaviour, saying, "It isn’t a good thing for the image of football… A lot of people and kids watch games, and they want to enjoy the spectacle. We have to deal with this problem."
