Micah Richards gets a Roasting on CBS Sports’ Champions League Show
The former Manchester City defender got a cheeky introduction on the latest CBS Sports’ Champions League show, with Jamie Carragher joking that he was "nearly sacked".
Micah Richards, Jamie Carragher, and Thierry Henry joined Kate Scott on the show, and while Scott introduced Henry as an Arsenal icon, Richards got a slightly different treatment. Scott announced that Richards had "kept his job" on CBS, to which Richards exclaimed he wasn’t going anywhere.
But it was Carragher who dropped the bombshell, revealing that they had to "put in some work with HR" to save Richards’ job. The ex-Liverpool star even joked that Richards was "still on trial". Richards’ reaction was priceless, and it was clear the lads were having a laugh.
The joke seemed to be a light-hearted way to poke fun at Richards’ early days at CBS Sports. We’ve seen him have some entertaining moments on the show before, like that time he made an explicit joke about David Beckham. But on this occasion, it was Carragher who was having the last laugh.
In related news, Beckham himself made a special guest appearance on the show, promoting his new programme "Beckham and Friends". He gifted the panel a tub of branded honey, which Richards awkwardly referenced as "his sticky stuff". The lads heard a different meaning, though, and Richards had to clarify that he was just talking about the honey’s label.
This whole incident highlights the friendly banter that goes down on CBS Sports’ Champions League show. The panel has undeniable chemistry, and we love seeing them let loose and have fun.
