Aston Villa’s Uplifting Decision: Putting Acorns on Their Shirts Against Young Boys
Aston Villa will wear a special sponsor on their shirts when they take on Young Boys in the Champions League today, and it’s an inspiring decision. The English Premier League team has traded in their regular sponsor, Betano, for the opportunity to give back to their long-time charity partners, Acorns Children’s Hospice.
Acorns is a Midlands-based organization that provides respite, palliative and end-of-life care for children and young people. Aston Villa has a close relationship with the charity, dating back to 2008 when Acorns was previously the shirt sponsor. By putting their logo on their shirts today, Villa is giving their supporters the opportunity to spread awareness and help raise crucial funds for the charity.
"This is a huge gesture of goodwill by Betano and Aston Villa," Acorns Director of Fundraising Vicki Rowles told the club’s official website. "With the exposure of the Champions League, we can reach even more families in need. Thank you to everyone involved."
Aston Villa’s commitment to their charitable partners is just one reason why fans are so proud to support the team. Under new manager Unai Emery, the side has already shown glimpses of excellence, coming back from a two-goal deficit to win 3-2 against Everton last weekend.
Against Young Boys, Villa will need to put in an equally impressive display to emerge victorious. Their Champions League debut in over 40 years is going to be an unforgettable night, and the presence of Acorns on their shirts will surely give them an extra lift.
