West Ham Star Slammed for Blunder Before Chelsea’s Goal

Chelsea’s 4-0 thrashing of West Ham at the London Stadium has left the Irons’ fans fuming, and one player’s mistake has taken center stage. Konstantinos Mavropanos’s lack of effort before Chelsea’s opening goal has seen him branded "pathetic" by fans.
Nicolas Jackson scored his third goal of the season in just the fourth minute, slotting the ball past West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola. But the real controversy surrounds the defender’s failure to track Chelsea’s striker.
Mavropanos was initially not involved in Jackson’s run, but fans expect more from a center-back. He should have read the play and moved to support Edson Alvarez, who was struggling to deal with the Senegalese striker.
Fans quickly took to social media to express their disappointment, blasting Mavropanos for his lack of hustle. "What on earth was Mavropanos doing for the goal? No effort to get across and decides to mark space instead," one user wrote.
Another fan shared a similar sentiment, demanding the Greek defender be sold. "Three league games in a row Mavropanos has been terrible for a goal. Get him out of the team now."
The defending was criticized by many as "abysmal." "Mavropanos not closing Jackson down when he can see Alvarez being beaten. Abysmal for a CB yet again," a fan penned.
The criticism was unwavering, with others calling the defending "far, far too easy." "Mavropanos looked like the slowest centre-back in the world there," one comment read.
The question is, can Mavropanos bounce back from this setback? Only time will tell.
What do you think, Hammer fans? Should Mavropanos be replaced? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
