Erling Haaland Reaches 100 Goal Milestone as Manchester City Cruise Past Arsenal
We’re less than a month into the new Premier League season and Erling Haaland has already made it to the 100 goal mark! The Norwegian superstar struck the net for the 10th time in the top flight this season, surpassing the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for the quickest to reach a century.
Haaland was in ruthless form against an Arsenal team that looked rattled and disorganized throughout the encounter. The attacker picked up the ball on the right flank, made a silky smooth run down the channel, and released a low, driven finish that flew past David Raya like he was sleeping.
Manchester City’s rampant attack didn’t stop there, however. The likes of Julian Alvarez and Ilkay Gundogan went on to net a brace each, while Phil Foden slotted home another to send the Etihad Stadium crowd into raptures.
The win propels Pep Guardiola’s side back to the summit of the Premier League, with City boasting a remarkable 23 points from just 9 games. This is despite having to adjust to a new-look squad with many key departures in the summer window.
Speaking of which, the Manchester Evening News’ Manchester City correspondent, @SamiraAhmed24, offered her thoughts on the Red Devils’ display: "Pep will be delighted with the overall performance tonight. The forwards were ruthless, and Arsenal’s midfield looked like a step slow."
Meanwhile, @MikeKeane64, ex-England skipper, reckons Mikel Arteta’s troops need to "sort themselves out ASAP" if they’re to stay in contention for the top four spot.
Will Manchester City carry their title-winning form from last season into the remainder of this campaign? Has Erling Haaland put himself in the running for the Ballon d’Or this year? Give us your thoughts in the comments!
