USMNT’s Coach Conundrum: Who Will Fill Berhalto’s Boots?
The US Men’s National Team is on the hunt for a new coach after parting ways with Gregg Berhalter. With a home World Cup just two years away, the pressure is on to find the right candidate to lead the team to success. Matt Crocker, the sporting director, is leading the search and has outlined a "targeted" approach to find the best coach for the job.
Big Names, Long Shots
- Jürgen Klopp, Free Agent: Klopp, the legendary Liverpool manager, is a dream candidate, but his lack of interest in coaching again makes him a long shot.
- Zinedine Zidane, Free Agent: Zidane, a French football legend, has been idle since leaving Real Madrid and has reportedly rejected an approach from US Soccer.
- Mauricio Pochettino, Free Agent: Pochettino, the former Chelsea and Tottenham manager, is available but may not be the right fit for the USMNT due to his demanding coaching style.
- Thomas Tuchel, Free Agent: Tuchel, the former Chelsea manager, is another big name who has been linked to the job but may not be the best fit for the team.

- Hervé Renard, France Women’s National Team: Renard, a highly respected coach, is available and has expressed interest in the USMNT job.

- Pellegrino Matarazzo, Hoffenheim: Matarazzo, the Hoffenheim manager, is a highly respected coach who has achieved success in the German Bundesliga and has a connection to the US due to his American heritage.
