Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel on Saturday night provided insight into the well-being of midfield star Mason Mount.
For those who don’t know, Mount had his last start today as the Blues went in search of Club World Cup glory in a standout encounter with Brazilian giants Palmeiras.
The England international, however, lasted just half an hour, before being forced to limp off due to an unspecified injury problem.
Speaking to the media on the back of the action drawing to a close at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium, Thomas Tuchel, in turn, was inevitably asked for an update on Mount’s well-being.
And the Chelsea boss went on to confirm that his outstanding midfielder has injured his ankle, amid concerns about a potentially serious ligament problem:
Tuchel said Mount’s ankle injury was ‘stiff’, ‘painful’ and ‘didn’t feel good’, adding: ‘They fell and their opponent fell on his ankle and severely damaged his ligaments.’ #CFCs

Havertz the difference
Mount’s health problems aside, of course, it turned out to be a stellar night for Chelsea in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
This is because the Pensioners ultimately emerged on the right side of a 2-1 scoreline, to secure their status as the most prominent club team in world football.
After proceedings were sent into extra time due to Raphael Veiga disallowing Romelu Lukaku’s opening goal, Kai Havertz scored the match-winning goal with a full 117 minutes on the clock, beating Weverton from the penalty spot to causing wild celebrations among club players and traveling fans.
