Manchester United Must Sell Before Signing Manuel Ugarte
Manchester United are reportedly on the verge of signing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte, but there’s a catch – they need to sell at least one player to make room for the Uruguayan international.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, United have agreed on personal terms with Ugarte, who is keen on joining the Red Devils even without Champions League football. However, Romano revealed that the club may have to sell before they can sign the midfielder.
Casemiro or Scott McTominay on the chopping block?
Romano believes that United will have to offload either Casemiro or Scott McTominay to make room for Ugarte. The Portuguese journalist wrote on social media: "Man United, working on outgoings with Casemiro or Scott McTominay to make room for new midfielder. Ugarte, keen on the move. Up to the clubs."
PSG willing to let Ugarte leave
Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to let Ugarte leave the club, with Romano reporting that they want to sign Benfica midfielder João Neves at all costs. Talks are still ongoing between PSG and Benfica over the fee for Neves.
United’s pre-season preparations
United kicked off their pre-season campaign with a 1-0 defeat against Rosenborg on Monday evening. Speaking after the match, manager Erik ten Hag emphasized the importance of winning games, saying: "The result is not secondary. But of course we play in pre-season, but at Manchester United the standard has to be winning games and definitely not to lose games."
What’s next for United?
With the transfer window still open, United fans are eagerly waiting to see who will be coming in and who will be leaving Old Trafford. Will Casemiro or McTominay be the player to make way for Ugarte? Only time will tell.
