The important goal is to get seven players, who can give us more balance: DC assistant coach, Pravin Amre

With a set of four main players already retained, Delhi Capitals will be looking to pick cricketers who can add more balance to the squad, says assistant coach Pravin Amre, who expects plenty of competition at the IPL auction on Saturday.

The IPL auction is scheduled to take place in Bengaluru on February 12-13. Delhi Capitals have retained four players – the wicketkeeper batsman. Rishabh pantsspinner axar patelopener prithvi shaw and South African pacemaker Anrich Nortje.

“As coaches, we always want a balanced team, we want that core,” Amre said in a press release. “The best thing we’ve done is we’ve kept four key players on our team, we’ve got a top batsman, we’ve got a batsman-keeper, we’ve got an all-rounder and a fast bowler. , so we’ve done the basics right.

“Now, we want to have seven players, who can give us more balance basically, that’s our important goal, and that’s the challenge, to be honest,” he added. The lucrative league has expanded from an eight-team tournament, as two new teams, the Gujarat Titans and the Lucknow Super Giants, have also been included.

“This mega auction is always a big challenge, especially when there are two new teams. “We know there will be a lot of competition, we know some franchises will have more money, and that’s when all the auction knowledge and experience will count.”

The Delhi franchise heads to the auction with the lowest prize of Rs 47.5 crore. As the DC think tank gets their preparations into overdrive, Amre spoke about the experience and importance of mock auctions.

“It’s done to understand the psyche of other owners, what they’ll be looking for, what they’re missing out on, and ultimately it comes down to what we want. To be honest, what we want and how we are going to get it is the purpose of doing mock auctions,” he said.
