Ten Hag Fires Back at Ronaldo, Claims He’s "Far Away from Manchester"
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has hit back at Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent criticism, suggesting that the Portuguese forward is out of touch with the realities of the club.
In a podcast with Rio Ferdinand, Ronaldo slammed Ten Hag, saying the Dutchman should "not say that you’re not going to fight to win the league or Champions League." But Ten Hag has dismissed the comments, pointing out that it was Ronaldo who said United cannot win the Premier League title.
"He said that Manchester United can’t win the Premier League," Ten Hag said. "He said this. If you read the article very well. He is far away in Saudi, far away from Manchester, so everyone can have an opinion and is entitled to have an opinion. It is OK."
The tension between Ten Hag and Ronaldo has been building for some time, and this latest exchange is just the latest chapter in their ongoing feud. The United boss is under pressure after a disappointing start to the season, which has seen the team lose three of their last four games.
Despite the pressure, Ten Hag remains defiant, insisting that he is focused on the task at hand. "It doesn’t impact me," he said. "I know in the process where we are, where we’re going. We’re in the transition period, we have to integrate a lot of young players in the team. We have to bring the injuries back into the team. Before anyone thinks about excuses, we have to win every game, I know that. The team knows this. We will focus on every game and have the mindset we have to win."
The news comes as a blow to United fans, who were hoping for a strong start to the season. But Ten Hag is confident that his team can turn things around, and is already looking ahead to the next game against Southampton.
"We have to focus on every game, and we have to win every game," he said. "The team knows this. We will focus on every game and have the mindset we have to win."
