Inter Miami CF’s Robert Taylor Pens Two-Year Contract Extension
Robert Taylor, the versatile winger, has put pen to paper on a two-year contract extension with Inter Miami CF, keeping him at the club until the 2026 Major League Soccer season, with an option to extend for an additional year.
The 27-year-old’s contract extension is a testament to his outstanding performances on the pitch. Since joining the club from SK Brann in 2022, Taylor has become a vital cog in Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino’s squad, making 100 appearances and chipping in with 16 goals and 19 assists. He now stands second on the club’s all-time assist list behind the legendary Lionel Messi.
Speaking to ESPN, Taylor reflected on the highs and lows of his time at Inter Miami, saying, "We’ve gone through ups and downs a lot… we’ve been to the playoffs and won the Leagues Cup, but we’ve also had some disappointing results." The winger emphasized the need for the team to remain focused and motivated, especially with the arrival of star players like Messi, Luis Suárez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba.
The new attention brought by the influx of big-name signings has only served to motivate Taylor and his teammates. "The more people watch us play, the more honored you feel," he said. "It’s a great feeling knowing that we’re selling out the stadium and people are watching us online in huge numbers."
Inter Miami will be looking to build on their recent successes when they kick off the 2024 Leagues Cup tournament on Saturday against Puebla. While Messi is still recovering from an ankle injury, Suárez may be sidelined due to inflammation around his knee, making him a doubt for the match.
