Supercomputer predicts final Premier League table with Man Utd and Chelsea given surprise positions

Supercomputer Predicts Premier League Table – A Surprise for Manchester United and Chelsea Fans

The new Premier League season is just around the corner, and the excitement is building ahead of the opening match. Manchester United will kick off their campaign on Friday night against Fulham, while defending champions Manchester City face a tough test against Chelsea on Sunday.

City are the clear favourites to win the league for a fifth consecutive season, with Pep Guardiola’s side predicted to finish top of the table. But what about the rest of the top six? According to data experts Opta, Arsenal will finish as runners-up, followed by Liverpool in third.

Chelsea, under new manager Enzo Maresca, are tipped to finish fourth and claim the final Champions League spot. This may come as a surprise to fans of the Blues, who have had a mixed pre-season, drawing with Wrexham and losing heavily to both Celtic and City.

Newcastle are predicted to finish fifth, ahead of big-spending Manchester United. The Red Devils have made some significant signings this summer, including Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee, but Opta gives them zero chance of winning the league and only a 1.2 per cent chance of finishing in the top two.

At the other end of the table, promoted sides Leicester, Ipswich, and Southampton are predicted to go straight back down to the Championship. Nottingham Forest are the next most likely to be relegated.

Here’s Opta’s predicted Premier League table in full:

  1. Man City
  2. Arsenal
