A completely bizarre photo of a host of Manchester United stars trying and failing to beat the offside trap set by Southampton has gone viral in the aftermath of the meeting between the clubs on Saturday.

Ralf Rangnick’s men, of course, marked their return to action only recently.

After seeing the club’s top-4 hopes take another hit in a 1-1 draw with Burnley in midweek, the Red Devils welcomed Southampton in the form of Ralph Hasenhuttl to Old Trafford, hoping to bounce back three points.

However, when all was said and done, the latest in a series of disappointing displays finally saw United forced to settle for a share of the spoils.

The evening hosts took the lead with 20 minutes remaining, when Jadon Sancho completed a great team move to score his first Premier League goal at Old Trafford:

Southampton, however, soon worked their way through proceedings, eventually earning a decisive equalizer courtesy of Che Adams early in the second half:

Reds offsides draw attention

In the aftermath of the full-time whistle blowing in Manchester on Saturday, it should come as no surprise to hear that a host of United stars were singled out for heavy criticism.

The likes of Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Cristiano Ronaldo have all been given some deserved condemnation as the mood continues to sour in Ralf Rangnick’s side.

However, as mentioned above, it was a moment involving no fewer than six members of the Red Devils ranks that went completely viral on the back of the action drawing to a close at Old Trafford.

The moment in question came when a set piece was thrown into the Southampton area during second half action.

The visiting Saints, meanwhile, employed a high line in an attempt to deal with the delivery, stepping up to catch United’s stars offside.

And to say that such a ploy proved effective would be to put it lightly, as Paul Pogba, Harry Maguire, Marcus Rashford and more were caught several feet beyond Southampton’s baseline, resulting in a remarkable set shot:
