Exclusive: Spain Star Reveals He’s Been Telling Rodri to Leave Manchester City
We’re just days away from the highly-anticipated Euro 2020 final between Spain and England, and tensions are running high. One Spanish star has been trying to convince his teammate Rodri to make a blockbuster move to Real Madrid this summer, and we’ve got the exclusive scoop.
Speaking to El Partidazo de COPE, full-back Dani Carvajal revealed he’s been telling Rodri every day to ditch Manchester City and join the Spanish giants. "Leave Manchester, there’s no sun, come to Madrid because we need you, and you’re from here in Madrid," Carvajal said. "He says, ‘Yes, well, I have a contract, there are no clauses here.’ It gives me pause, it gives me delay, but it would be the signing, without a doubt. Being Spanish, in Madrid… I think it would fit perfectly."
Rodri, who has been a mainstay in Spain’s midfield, has won four Premier League titles and the Champions League with Manchester City. His manager, Pep Guardiola, has even gone on record saying Rodri could play in any generation, comparing him to the great players of Barcelona’s first European Cup-winning team under Johan Cruyff.
The 27-year-old has a contract until 2027 and has no release clause, making a move to Real Madrid difficult. However, Carvajal believes Rodri would be a massive signing for the Spanish giants. "These players could play in any generation in teams across the world. They are too good to not be at that level," Guardiola said.
