Second Premier League club hijacks Crystal Palace’s move for Wilfried Zaha as David Ornstein drops update

Could Zaha Be on His Way Back to the Premier League?

It looks like Crystal Palace might be missing out on re-signing their former forward Wilfried Zaha this summer. The 31-year-old left Selhurst Park in 2023 to join Turkish giants Galatasaray on a three-year deal, but things haven’t been going according to plan for the ex-Manchester United man.

According to David Ornstein from The Athletic, Zaha is now on the radar of Leicester City, who are actively working on a deal to bring the experienced forward to the King Power Stadium. A loan move has been touted, but it remains to be seen whether Crystal Palace will look to hijack the deal.

Palace have explored the possibility of a loan-to-buy move, as their former star has a contract until 2026. It’s no secret that Zaha was disappointed to leave Palace, but he’s since spoken about his desire to play in the Champions League, which Galatasaray couldn’t offer.

Zaha left Palace as a free agent in 2023 after rejecting a record four-year deal worth £200,000 per week, it is claimed. When asked if it was a difficult decision to leave Selhurst Park, Zaha told TNTSports: "It was. But at the same time, I thought: ‘It’s the time for me to move on now.’"

The Ivory Coast international has struggled to make an impact in Turkey, netting just 10 goals in 43 appearances last season. It’s possible that Leicester City see an opportunity to rejuvenate their attack with Zaha’s pace and skill.
