Ryan Lowe Opens Up on Shock Preston North End Departure
Just one game into the new Championship season, Ryan Lowe has departed Preston North End, leaving many fans stunned. The 45-year-old manager has revealed why he decided to leave Deepdale, citing a desire to move on and let the club go in a different direction.
Lowe, who was appointed in October 2021, has had a tumultuous two-and-a-half years at the helm. The team’s poor form towards the end of last season, which included a five-game losing streak without scoring a single goal, ultimately cost them a spot in the play-offs.
The former Bury and Crewe striker has now opened up about his decision to leave the club, stating that he feels it’s the right time for him to move on. "I’ve had an unbelievable two-and-a-half years, met some incredible people and coached some fantastic players, but I feel now is the right time to move on," Lowe said.
Lowe also expressed his gratitude to the club’s owners, Peter Ridsdale and the Hemmings family, for their support during his tenure. "Thank you to Peter, Craig Hemmings and the Hemmings family for their support and backing and giving me the opportunity to manage a fantastic football club and establish myself as a Championship manager," he said.
In his statement, Lowe also praised the squad, saying that he’s leaving the team in a good place. "I’m leaving the club in a good place with a fantastic squad, and I just wish the football club and everyone associated with it all the best in the future," he added.
Interim Manager Appointed
In the meantime, former England youth coach Mike Marsh has been appointed as the interim manager of Preston North End. Marsh will be assisted by current player-coach Ched Evans and former Morecambe and Accrington midfielder Peter Murphy.
Lowe’s departure has sent shockwaves through the Championship, with fans left wondering what the future holds for the Lilywhites. One thing is certain, however – Preston North End will need to regroup and refocus if they’re to achieve their goals this season.
