Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr Slump Continues as Al Hilal Thrash Them 4-1 in Saudi Super Cup Final
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr side have come up short once again, this time losing 4-1 to Al Hilal in the Saudi Super Cup final. The Portuguese superstar started his third season with the Saudi Pro League club, but it was a disappointing evening for him and his teammates.
Ronaldo did manage to find the net, scoring a side-foot finish from 6 yards out in the 44th minute. However, that was as good as it got for Al Nassr, as Al Hilal dominated the second half.
The Serbian duo of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Aleksandar Mitrovic proved to be the difference-makers. Milinkovic-Savic scored in the 55th minute, and Mitrovic added two more goals in the 63rd and 69th minutes. Malcom then sealed the win for Al Hilal with a simple finish in the 72nd minute.
This defeat is a familiar tale for Al Nassr, who were also beaten to the Saudi Pro League title and Saudi King’s Cup by Al Hilal last season. The new Saudi Pro League season is set to begin on Thursday, with Al Nassr hosting Al Raed.
For Ronaldo, this is a disappointing start to the season, and he will be looking to bounce back quickly. Al Hilal, on the other hand, have won the Saudi Super Cup for the second time in a row and the fifth time in their history, cementing their status as the most successful team in the competition.
