Respected Liverpool journalist names one signing ‘he would put money on’ happening this summer

Respected Liverpool Journalist Puts Money on Anthony Gordon Joining Reds This Summer

Liverpool FC are still searching for their first signing of the summer transfer window, but respected journalist Ian Doyle believes Anthony Gordon could be the man to break the deadlock. The Newcastle United forward has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield, and Doyle thinks it’s a matter of when, not if, Gordon dons the red jersey.

The Merseysiders have been quiet in the transfer market so far, but that could all change in the coming days. According to Doyle, Gordon’s current contract situation could be a major factor in his potential move to Liverpool.

"Gordon is under contract at Newcastle until 2026, but Liverpool offered a new contract to Luis Suarez, he signed it, then he left anyway," Doyle said. "I would personally put some money on him being here by the end of the month."

The 23-year-old has been a key player for Newcastle since joining from Everton in January 2023, but his future at St James’ Park is uncertain. Gordon’s representatives will be keen to explore other options if Newcastle fail to secure Champions League football, and Liverpool could be the perfect destination.

Toffees fans will be aware of Gordon’s impressive form at Goodison Park, and it’s easy to see why Liverpool are interested. The England international has all the attributes to be a success in the Premier League, including his pace, skill, and clinical finishing.

Liverpool’s need for new signings is well-documented, and Gordon would be an excellent addition to the squad. With an ageing core running through the team, Jurgen Klopp’s men need to freshen things up to remain competitive.
