Ralf Rangnick aims fresh dig at Man Utd squad and sends warning to Erik ten Hag over his players

Ralf Rangnick Reignites Manchester United Criticism, Sends Warning to Erik ten Hag

Ralf Rangnick has reopened old wounds by taking aim at Manchester United and manager Erik ten Hag once again. The former Red Devils interim boss has been vocal about the state of the squad and has now doubled down on his criticism.

Speaking to TV2, Rangnick, 66, claimed that he had "probably only two or three weeks" since Erik ten Hag was asked the same questions he was about the team’s problems. Ten Hag’s response? "I was right in my analysis." Rangnick’s past comments have been eerily prescient, with Manchester United struggling to find consistency under their new manager.

Rangnick’s original comments about Manchester United’s need for "open-heart surgery" in 2021 sparked controversy, but his words have since been vindicated by the team’s underwhelming performances. Ten Hag’s men were thrashed 3-0 by Liverpool before the international break, and their 2-1 loss to Brighton last month was their fifth defeat in seven Premier League games.

The Austria manager’s parting shot was a stark warning to Ten Hag: "You don’t even need glasses to see and analyse where the problems are… Now it’s about how do we solve them? It’s not enough to do some minor amendments – cosmetic things. In medicine, you would say that this is an operation of the open heart. If this happens and everyone has realised that this has to happen and if people want to work together, then it makes sense and I believe it doesn’t take two or three years to change those things. This can happen within one year."

It’s clear that Rangnick still has strong opinions about Manchester United’s issues, and his words are likely to send a chill down the spines of Ten Hag and the Red Devils’ hierarchy. The question is, will Manchester United take heed of Rangnick’s warnings and make the necessary changes to turn their season around?
