Rajasthan: 15 dead, two injured after mini bus collides with parked truck

At least 15 people were killed and two others were injured when a minibus collided with a parked truck in Rajasthan’s Phalodi district on Sunday night. The Indian Express reported.

The accident occurred around 6:30 pm at Matoda area on Bharat Mala Highway, when the minibus was returning from Kolayat temple in Bikaner.

“Fifteen passengers were killed, while two others suffered serious injuries.” Jodhpur Police Commissionerate Om Prakash told PTI. “The injured were first shifted to a hospital in Osian for primary treatment and then referred to Jodhpur.”

Eyewitnesses said The Indian Express that the truck was parked in front of a restaurant and the minibus was trying to overtake another vehicle when it collided with the trailer.

The Prime Minister’s Office announced a ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said district officials had been directed to ensure proper treatment for the injured.

On October 14, at least 26 people were killed and several injured after an air-conditioned sleeper bus traveling from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur in Rajasthan caught fire near Thaiyat village due to a short circuit.

On October 28, two people were killed and ten others injured when the bus carrying them came into contact with a high-voltage power line in Manoharpur, about 50 kilometers north of the district headquarters of Jaipur. The Indian Express reported.

In Andhra Pradesh, at least 20 people were delicate after a bus caught fire following a collision in Kurnool district on October 24.
