Dele Alli’s rollercoaster journey may be taking a positive turn. The English midfielder, who hasn’t played a competitive game since February 2023, is back in training with Everton as he continues his intense rehabilitation program.
The 27-year-old had a series of setbacks after joining Besiktas on loan, including a persistent groin injury that required surgery in January. Everton’s director of football, Kevin Thelwell, recently revealed that the club’s medical team will continue to support Alli throughout his recovery, ensuring that his contract situation doesn’t hinder his rehabilitation.
However, things might take a turn for the better. According to reports, Everton are in talks with Tottenham Hotspur to renegotiate the original terms of their transfer agreement that brought Alli to Merseyside in 2022. This move could see Alli offer a new deal at Goodison Park.
Alli’s ultimate goal remains to play for England at the 2026 World Cup. In a recent interview on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, the midfielder expressed his disappointment at missing out on action but is optimistic about his future. "I know how good I can be when my head is in the right place and I’m feeling good… My target is the World Cup in 2026."
