Julian Alvarez is set to become a massive profit for Manchester City as they sell him to Atletico Madrid for a whopping £82 million. But while City will be raking it in, they’ll also have a huge hole to fill in their squad. According to reports, Pep Guardiola’s dream target to replace Alvarez is none other than Real Madrid’s Rodrygo Goes.

Alvarez’s Departure Creates a Void

Alvarez’s departure will surely leave a void in City’s attack. He’s been a key player for Guardiola, providing crucial contributions despite not being a regular starter. Replacing him won’t be an easy task, but Guardiola reportedly has his sights set on Rodrygo.

Rodrygo Hints at Exit, But Denies Rumors

Rodrygo has been linked with a move to Manchester City for some time now. In an interview with DAZN, he did seem to hint at an exit from the Santiago Bernabeu. However, his response was quickly followed by a statement saying the interview was taken out of context and reaffirming his commitment to Real Madrid.

"I am very happy at Real Madrid," he said. "I live a dream every day and it does not cross my mind to leave the club of my life. Now we continue with history to make – by 15. Hala Madrid and nothing more."

Difficult to Imagine Rodrygo Leaving

It’s hard to imagine Rodrygo leaving Real Madrid behind. He’s been a star for the club, scoring 54 goals and providing 41 assists in 216 appearances. He’s won three La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues with the club. It’s clear he’s deeply committed to Los Blancos.

Guardiola Left Hanging

Guardiola reportedly phoned Rodrygo’s agent to try and persuade the player to join City, but it seems it’s not meant to be. Rodrygo is firm in his commitment to Real Madrid, and it’s unlikely any personal appeal from Guardiola would change his mind.

City Left to Look Elsewhere
