Pep Guardiola names three fellow Premier League bosses he feels ‘weaker’ against with Man City

Pep Guardiola’s Exclusive Trio: The Three Managers He Turns to After a Loss

Pep Guardiola is renowned for his impressive managerial career, boasting an astonishing 72.79% win rate across Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City. However, even the great man himself knows that nobody’s perfect, and he’s confessed to feeling "weaker" against certain opponents.

So, who does Pep turn to after a loss? The answer might surprise you. In a revealing interview with Sky Sports, Guardiola revealed that he has a close-knit group of three fellow managers he reaches out to when he’s feeling down in the dumps.

First up is Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta, who worked under Pep’s guidance at Manchester City before taking the reins at the Emirates. The pair share a strong bond, and it’s no surprise that Pep would want to bounce ideas off his trusted former assistant.

Next, we have Chelsea’s Enzo Maresca, another former City employee who’s now making a name for himself in the Premier League. Maresca’s tactical acumen and understanding of Pep’s system make him an ideal confidant for the City boss.

Last but not least, there’s West Ham United’s Julian Lopetegui, a fellow Spaniard who’s become a close friend of Pep’s. Despite their differing managerial styles, the two share a mutual respect and often swap tips and advice.

Pep’s Criteria for Calling a Fellow Manager

When asked if he’d spoken to other managers after a loss, Pep explained: "Sometimes, with my friends of mine, yeah. With Mikel, with Julen Lopetegui for example, people who are friends of mine, Enzo Maresca, with Roberto De Zerbi. With managers that do have a relation – we worked together, a connection because life gives us a connection, yeah, I love."

He also admitted that he’s more likely to reach out to a fellow manager after a win, saying: "And I like to do it winning or losing, I’m not that – the other ones I prefer when you win and the other loses. When you lose and I don’t know them, I don’t want to be disturbed, I don’t want to talk to anyone, I want to process the defeat of myself."

What Does This Mean for City’s Title Hopes?

Guardiola’s revelation might raise eyebrows among Manchester City fans, who know that their team is already facing stiff competition in the Premier League. With Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal all vying for the top spot, City need all the help they can get.

Perhaps Pep’s willingness to seek advice from his fellow managers is a sign that he’s more willing to adapt and learn from his mistakes. With City’s squad already showing signs of fatigue, Pep’s ability to fine-tune his tactics and mentality could be the difference between success and failure.
