Disastrous Update on Man City Star’s Injury Ahead of Chelsea Clash
Manchester City are reeling after Pep Guardiola delivered a devastating update on the injury to young winger Oscar Bobb. The Norway international is set to undergo surgery and could be out for as long as four months, casting a shadow over City’s Premier League title defense.
Bobb, who impressed in pre-season and was a strong contender to start against Chelsea on Sunday, suffered a fractured bone in his leg during training. Guardiola spoke about the injury in his press conference, expressing his sadness at the turn of events.
"It was in the training session. Unfortunately, he had a big impact and got injured. He is having surgery this afternoon. Hopefully, it will go well and he will be back in 3/4 months," Guardiola said.
"We are so sad for him – not because of his incredible pre-season, that doesn’t matter – but because any time there is a long injury. We are looking forward to seeing him again soon."
The news will come as a significant blow to City, who were already dealing with the loss of Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid. With Savinho now set to be relied upon more heavily on the right flank, City do have options to deputize. However, the absence of Bobb’s pace and creativity will undoubtedly be felt.
The Premier League champions may still look to strengthen their squad before the transfer window closes, with Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace being linked. However, Guardiola remains non-committal on the matter.
"Maybe. Or maybe not. We will see," he said. "I am really pleased with the squad we have. I can’t answer you right now."
