Paul Scholes Names Premier League Title Favourites as Arsenal Set to Break City Cycle
Paul Scholes has thrown his hat into the Premier League title race ring, and it’s no surprise he’s tipping Manchester City’s dominance to be broken this season. The former Manchester United midfielder believes Arsenal are the team ready to end City’s reign, but only just.
Scholes thinks City will still be strong, closely followed by Arsenal. "I have said a few times, I expect Arsenal to be the team to win it this year," he said. "They have progressed over the last few years under Mikel Arteta, and this year I think they’re ready to take the crown."
The former England midfielder’s opinion comes as Arteta’s side continue to build towards the new season. While they haven’t made a raft of signings this summer, they have brought in defender Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna and have secured the permanent transfer of goalkeeper David Raya from Brentford.
We’ve already seen glimpses of what Arsenal can do, but will it be enough to dethrone City? The Spaniard remains tight-lipped on the subject, citing the importance of improving the squad. "The pain from last season is still there," he said. "But after analysing the whole season, we know we’ve got to find ways to get better. The margins can be small in this league, and we’re working tirelessly to close them."
With the Premier League title up for grabs, it’s exciting to see who will come out on top. Scholes believes Arsenal will be the team to watch, and his prediction could send shockwaves around the league.
