Manchester United in Crisis Mode: Paul Scholes Tears Into Erik ten Hag’s Side
Manchester United are facing a crisis on the pitch, and legendary midfielder Paul Scholes isn’t afraid to speak his mind. In a scathing assessment, Scholes believes the Red Devils are an "uncoached team" with no approach under Erik ten Hag.
Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur only added to the pressure on the Dutch manager, and Scholes believes it’s time for Ten Hag to take responsibility for his team’s lack of identity.
"You don’t know how they’re going to play," Scholes said. "You don’t know how they’re going to approach games, whether they’re going to play on the counter-attack or sit deep or whether they’re going to try to have all the possession in the game. We’ve no idea."
Scholes also criticized the team’s summer signings, calling out the lack of significant improvements in key areas of the pitch.
"Some of the positions that people take up on the pitch, it’s just madness at times," he said. "When you bring players in, you expect them to be a lot better than who you’ve already got. I don’t see players coming in who are a big difference."
With United’s lackluster start to the campaign, fans are growing restless. Ten Hag’s side have managed just two wins in their last six Premier League matches, and it’s unclear what the solution to their problems is.
One thing is certain, though – United need to get their act together fast. The pressure is mounting on Ten Hag, and the Red Devils can’t afford to fall further behind their title rivals.
