New footage emerges that ‘proves’ why Leandro Trossard shouldn’t have been sent off against Man City, it changes everything

New Footage of Trossard’s Sending Off Changes Everything: Why Arsenal Winger Was Robbed

New footage has emerged of Leandro Trossard’s controversial sending off against Manchester City, and it’s clear as day that he was harshly done by. The Arsenal winger was shown a second yellow card by Michael Oliver for delaying the restart during his side’s crunch Premier League fixture at the Etihad.

The initial footage showed Trossard pulling his leg back to kick the ball, and Oliver quickly blew his whistle, dismissing him to a chorus of outrage from the Arsenal bench. But, as new footage has revealed, Oliver’s decision might not have been as straightforward as it seemed.

In the new footage, Oliver is seen holding the whistle in his mouth and signaling for a free-kick before Trossard’s dismissal. This has sparked claims that the referee was, in fact, going to award a free-kick, rather than sending off the Arsenal winger.

Mikel Arteta’s comments after the game only added fuel to the fire, as he suggested that Oliver’s decision was influenced by a similar incident involving Declan Rice against Brighton earlier in the season. Arteta stated that the game was being affected by referees’ inconsistencies and that something needed to be done to address the issue.

"We were more efficient and went 2-1 up and then there were two incidents, very similar, one in particular, but had a very different outcome which then forces you to have a game which nobody wants to watch," Arteta said.

The debate surrounding Trossard’s sending off will continue, but one thing is for sure – new footage has shed more light on the incident, and it’s clear that the Arsenal winger was perhaps robbed of his chance to play on.
