National Deworming Day 2022: From symptoms to prevention, learn all about worm infection in children


Every year, on February 10, National Deworming Day is commemorated to raise awareness about the importance of deworming all preschool and school-age children between the ages of 1-19 years. “Deworming improves immunity in both children and adults, thus protecting them from chronic diseases caused by worms,” said Dr. Partap Chauhan, director of Jiva Ayurveda.

Ayurvedic treatment to get rid of worms in children and adults

Dr. Chauhan listed some effective Ayurvedic remedies to treat intestinal worms.

*Mixture vidanga powder (Embelia Ribes) with honey or warm water and have your child drink it every day in the morning.

* Drinking a concoction of dried ginger (adrak), black pepper (Kaali mirch), pippali (piper longum) and honey for 15 days also reduce worms.

*Juice of tulsi leaves with honey or juice of peach and honey is also helpful.

*Foods such as ajwain (caraway), black pepper (Kaali mirch), the ship sails away (hing), black salt (kala namak), dried ginger, garlic, turmeric are good for deworming. Take ajwain mixed with a pinch of salt on an empty stomach for a week to eliminate worms.

* Always drink boiled water. Give your child coconut water or medicated water with ajwain or vidang.

*For children up to 4-5 years old, soak a cotton ball in sesame oil or peanut oil and place it on the anus to reduce itching.

* A decoction of nagarmotha, daruharidraand thigh bark together with piper longum powder and vidanga helps remove worms as well.
