Mbappé’s Preseason Absence Highlights Real Madrid’s Youthful Ambition
Real Madrid’s preseason tour of the United States has kicked off without one of their biggest stars, Kylian Mbappé. The French forward, who recently joined the club from Paris Saint-Germain, will miss the friendlies against AC Milan, Barcelona, and Chelsea due to his ongoing holiday after captaining France to the semifinals of Euro 2024.
Mbappé’s absence is a significant blow to Real Madrid’s attacking options, but it’s an opportunity for the club’s young talent to step up and make a name for themselves. Carlo Ancelotti’s 26-man roster features 12 youth players, including Brazilian forward Endrick, who recently joined the club from Palmeiras on a permanent transfer.
Endrick, 18, is one of the most exciting young players in the world, and his inclusion in the squad is a testament to Real Madrid’s commitment to developing young talent. Alongside Endrick, Vinícius Júnior and Rodrygo Goes, also of Brazil, will join the team in the next few days, adding more firepower to Real Madrid’s attack.
The absence of Jude Bellingham and Dani Carvajal, who played in the Euro 2024 final with England and Spain, respectively, is also notable. Both players are on holiday, but their inclusion in the squad would have added more experience and depth to Real Madrid’s midfield and defense.
Real Madrid’s preseason tour begins with a match against AC Milan at Soldier Field in Chicago on July 31, followed by the highly anticipated Clásico against Barcelona on August 3 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The tour concludes with a match against Chelsea on August 6 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
With Mbappé set to join the team after the US tour, Real Madrid fans can expect to see the French forward make his debut in the European Super Cup against Atalanta on August 14.
