Marcus Rashford didn’t hesitate when asked to pick between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in the GOAT debate

Rashford Weighs In on Messi vs Ronaldo Debate: "I Think Messi is the Greatest Ever"

The eternal debate continues to rage on – is it Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi who reigns supreme in the world of football? For Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, the answer is clear. Speaking to CNN in 2018, the 26-year-old forward had nothing but praise for the Argentine maestro.

"Some of the stuff that he does is unbelievable," Rashford gushed. "I’m a big fan of [Cristiano] Ronaldo as well, but I think Messi is the greatest ever." It’s a bold statement, but one that’s hard to argue with when you consider Messi’s trophy cabinet.

Rashford also gave a shoutout to some of his other football heroes, including Brazilian legends Ronaldinho and Ronaldo. "I think watching the Brazil team with the likes of Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, and those type of players was one of my favorite experiences," he recalled.

Fast forward to 2023, and Rashford was asked to name his dream Manchester United six-a-side team. In a Q&A session on Instagram Live, he opted for a star-studded lineup featuring Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, and David De Gea.

Having played alongside and watched some of the greatest players in the world, it’s clear that Rashford has a deep appreciation for the sport. When asked about his decision-making process, he revealed that he stuck to players he grew up watching.

"I’d probably have [David] De Gea, but it was a close one between him and [Edwin] Van der Sar," he explained. "When I was a kid Van der Sar was one of the best keepers, and obviously playing with David has been great, so I’d have to put David in there."

So there you have it – Rashford’s take on the Messi vs Ronaldo debate, and his dream Manchester United six-a-side team. Who do you think has the edge in the ongoing battle for supremacy?
