Manchester United Eyeing ‘Silent Assassin’ Tyrick Mitchell as Left-Back Solution
Manchester United are on the hunt for a new left-back and have reportedly set their sights on Crystal Palace’s Tyrick Mitchell, according to Sky Sports. The 24-year-old defender has been a consistent performer for the Eagles, earning two caps for England and earning the nickname "silent assassin" from Palace coach Stuart English.
Mitchell is entering the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park, making him a prime target for United. The Red Devils have been plagued by injuries at left-back in recent seasons, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia both struggling with fitness issues. Erik ten Hag is desperate to bolster his defensive options and Mitchell’s arrival could be the solution to United’s problem position.
The England international has made 144 appearances for Palace since breaking into their senior side in 2020. He’s known for his pace, power, and attacking prowess, making him an attractive option for United. Mitchell’s ability to deliver set-pieces and his physicality would make him a valuable asset to the Red Devils.
United are also reportedly in talks to sign several other players, including Bayern Munich duo Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui. Meanwhile, they’ve also been linked with two other Crystal Palace players – Marc Guehi and Adam Wharton.
The Red Devils next face Real Betis on Thursday before another warm-up match against rivals Liverpool on Sunday. They then face Manchester City in the Community Shield on Saturday before taking on Fulham in their opening game of the new Premier League season on August 16.
