Manchester United’s Summer Spend Reaches New Heights – £60m Bid Imminent for Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite?

According to sources close to the club, Manchester United are poised to make a £60m bid for Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite. The 21-year-old defender has been a long-term target for United, with previous offers of £35m plus add-ons and £50m being rejected earlier in the summer.
However, Football Insider report that United are confident Everton will finally accept the latest offer, despite the impending start of the new Premier League season. If this deal goes through, United’s spending will have reached an eye-watering £207.5m – a staggering figure for the first summer transfer window since Sir Jim Ratcliffe became minority owner of the club.
So, why are United so keen on bringing Branthwaite to Old Trafford? For starters, the centre-back has already agreed personal terms worth £160,000 a week, which represents a significant upgrade on his current contract at Goodison Park.
While Branthwaite is a talented young player, Everton reportedly value him at around £80m – which is a significant increase from their original asking price. This move highlights United’s willingness to spend big to get their man, rather than being put off by an initial asking price.
It remains to be seen whether Everton will indeed accept the £60m bid, or if United will need to negotiate further. But one thing is for certain – the Red Devils are on the verge of making another significant splash in the transfer market.
