Manchester United’s Lindelof Could Reunite with De Gea at Fiorentina
Manchester United’s transfer saga continues, with the latest reports suggesting that Victor Lindelof could be on his way out of Old Trafford to join Fiorentina in Serie A. The Swedish defender has been with United since 2017, but with the arrival of new signings and a crowded central defensive unit, it’s no surprise that he’s being linked with a move.
According to Gianluca di Marzio, Fiorentina are considering a bid for Lindelof, who would be reunited with former United teammate David de Gea. De Gea made the switch to Fiorentina this summer, leaving United after a decade-long spell.
Lindelof’s current contract at United expires in 2025, but it’s believed that he’s open to a move this summer. The 30-year-old has struggled for game time under Erik ten Hag, and with United having signed Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro this summer, it’s unlikely that he’ll feature regularly.
The prospect of Lindelof joining Fiorentina is an intriguing one. The Italian club has been strengthening their squad this summer, and Lindelof’s experience and quality would be a welcome addition. However, any potential move would likely require Lindelof to take a pay cut, having earned £120,000 per week at United.
For United, selling Lindelof this summer would make sense. They would be able to recoup some of the £30.7m they paid Benfica for him in 2017, rather than allowing him to leave for free next year. With Yoro and De Ligt already on board, Lindelof’s game time would likely be limited, making a move a sensible decision for all parties involved.
Will Lindelof make the move to Fiorentina? Only time will tell. But one thing is certain – the transfer window is always full of surprises, and we’ll be keeping you updated with all the latest news and gossip.
