Man Utd issue rare update on Tyrell Malacia amid concern from fans

Manchester United’s Tyrell Malacia Makes Progress in Fitness Programme

The 2024-25 season is just around the corner, and Manchester United players are slowly starting to report for pre-season training. While some fans were left concerned after failing to spot Dutch defender Tyrell Malacia in recent pictures, United have offered a rare update on the left-back’s progress.

Malacia, who was Erik ten Hag’s first signing as United boss, has been recovering from a long-term injury that kept him sidelined since undergoing knee surgery in the summer of 2023. The good news is that the 24-year-old has made significant progress in his fitness programme and has been pictured training individually on the grass under the guidance of medical staff.

According to United’s official website, Malacia returned to Carrington earlier this week, after working hard throughout his summer break. The statement read: "The Netherlands international joined United from Feyenoord in 2022 and has made 39 appearances so far. He is doing everything he can to regain full fitness."

Malacia’s return to training is a welcome boost for United fans, who will be eager to see the full-back back in action. The club has also added Rene Hake and Ruud van Nistelrooy to ten Hag’s backroom staff, with the Dutch legend expressing his excitement to bring new dynamic and innovation to the team.

United are set to take on a series of friendly matches before kicking off their season with the FA Community Shield against Manchester City on August 10. With Malacia making progress in his fitness programme, fans will be hoping to see him back in the starting lineup soon.
