Manchester United’s Top Transfer Target for 2025 Revealed
Manchester United have reportedly decided on their top transfer target for next year, and it’s none other than Everton’s talented young defender Jarrad Branthwaite. The 22-year-old has been impressing in the Premier League and has even earned his first England cap this summer.
According to HITC, United remain interested in signing Branthwaite, despite their initial bid being rejected by Everton in the summer. The Toffees are said to be keen to tie down the defender to a new contract, with Roma owner Dan Friedkin’s takeover of the club potentially persuading Branthwaite to extend his current deal, which runs until 2027.
United’s interest in Branthwaite is not surprising, given their struggles at the back this season. The Red Devils have endured draws against Crystal Palace and FC Twente in the past week alone, and their defence has been a major concern. With Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire out of contract next summer, United are likely to be in the market for a new centre-back, and Branthwaite fits the bill.
The England international has already impressed in the Premier League, and his pace, power, and aerial ability make him an attractive option for United. The Red Devils are said to be doing their due diligence on a range of options, but Branthwaite is their stand-out target in central defence.
United sporting director Dan Ashworth is allegedly in full agreement with the club’s initial approach for Branthwaite, and is focused on pursuing the defender next year. With United set to move on from Lindelof and Maguire, Branthwaite could be the perfect replacement to bolster their defence.
United host Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday, before a trip to Porto for their next Europa League fixture the following Thursday. Will they be able to turn their season around and make a push for the top four? Only time will tell.
