Manchester United Transfer Scoop: De Ligt Saga Hits Major Roadblock

Manchester United’s chase for Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt has been thrown a major curveball, as reports have emerged that Bayern Munich’s deadline to finalize a transfer for Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah has created an unwanted complication.
De Ligt is reportedly high on Erik Ten Hag’s transfer wish-list, given his experience working with the defender at Ajax. However, things may not be as straightforward as hoped for the Red Devils, courtesy of the Tah situation.
Tah, a 28-year-old German international, is currently tied to Leverkusen, but Bayern Munich has reportedly been pursuing a move to capture his services. The defending Bundesliga champions have set a deadline for a deal by the weekend, or risk seeing Tah enter the final year of his contract.
Leverkusen are demanding a fee of around £26 million for Tah, otherwise, it seems likely that the player will opt to see out his contract rather than join Bayern.
While we can’t predict the outcome with certainty, this development may cast further doubt over Manchester United’s pursuit of de Ligt. It seems they may have to look elsewhere if they want to strengthen their defence further.
Erik ten Hag has previously expressed admiration for de Ligt and conceded that he’s unsure whether he’ll end up at Old Trafford, even if he wants him there. Given the circumstances, Ten Hag may have to bide his time and consider other alternatives.
