Manchester United Fans Furious Over Erik Ten Hag’s Plan for Luke Shaw Alternative
Manchester United fans are up in arms after hearing Erik ten Hag’s reported plan for a potential Luke Shaw alternative. Shaw is set to return to the pitch after the next international break, but fans are not happy with the club’s decision to keep Harry Amass at the youth team level.
According to The Athletic, Amass is not yet ready for the physicality of first-team football, with the huge step-up to Premier League football being a key reason behind why coaches don’t want to put him into the side just yet. However, some fans are not buying this explanation and are calling for Amass to be given a chance to prove himself.
"We have no proper left-back and Amass is one, why is he being treated so badly?" asked one fan. "The Amass position is nuts given the number of times we had youth players on the bench last year," added another. A third fan said, "Amass should at least be given minutes. Even 20 minutes per game would help him slowly adapt."
With Manchester United struggling at left-back, with Diogo Dalot failing to impress, fans are calling for Amass to be given a chance to prove himself. "Why is Amass staying with the youth teams if they thought he was worthy of chances last year? Left-back is the one critical area we are struggling as Dalot has been so poor all year defensively," exclaimed one fan.
United face an away trip to Porto in the Europa League on Thursday evening, before traveling to the Midlands to take on Aston Villa on Sunday. Fans will be eager to see if Amass will get a chance to prove himself in the coming weeks.
