Manchester City Fans Spot Major Blunder in New Stand Expansion Images
Manchester City fans have been left scratching their heads after spotting a major blunder in the images of the club’s new stand expansion. The Etihad Stadium is set to undergo a major transformation, with the North Stand being expanded to increase the stadium’s capacity from 53,400 to over 60,000.
The new stand will feature a range of seating options, including a large rail-seating area, family areas, and ring-fenced tickets for young fans. The expansion is part of City’s wider plan to turn the Etihad Campus into an entertainment destination, complete with a roof walk experience, a new City Square fan zone, and a 400-bed hotel.
However, fans were quick to point out a major mistake in the images released by the club. The supporters in the stand are wearing Nike kits, despite Puma being the club’s current sponsor. The blunder has sparked a mix of amusement and annoyance among fans, with some suggesting it may be a result of artificial intelligence being used to generate the images.
One fan tweeted: "Interesting spot on the North Stand stadium expansion pictures city have posted… why are the kits Nike?" Another added: "Possibly AI. But Awkward nonetheless. Puma won’t be pleased."
The expansion of the North Stand is set to be completed in time for the 2025/26 campaign, and will feature at least 3,000 rail seats. The project is part of City’s long-term plan to become a major player in the world of football, and to provide a world-class experience for their fans.
