Katni (Madhya Pradesh):
Five of the nine workers who were trapped after a tunnel under construction of the Bargi Underground Canal collapsed in Sleemanabad, in Madhya Pradesh’s Katni district, have been rescued, the administration said on Sunday.
The rescue operation is underway to rescue the remaining workers with the help of a team from the State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF).
“Of the 9 workers trapped, 5 have been rescued after a tunnel under construction of the Bargi underground canal collapsed in Sleemanabad in the Katni district of Madhya Pradesh; 4 have yet to be rescued. SDERF team on site,” an official from the administration said.
The SDERF team arrived from Jabalpur, Katni collector Priyank Mishra said.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was made aware of the incident in Sleemanabad. In a phone conversation, he sought information about the incident from the Katni collector.
The Chief Minister is constantly in contact with the Katni district administration and is taking information about the rescue operation.
The Chief Minister has given instructions for the proper treatment of the wounded.
