Liverpool Eye Stunning Move for Ex-Man United Star Angel Gomes on Free Transfer
Liverpool could be set to make a shock move for former Manchester United midfielder Angel Gomes, who is available on a free transfer at the end of the season.
The 24-year-old has been impressing for Lille in France and has recently been called up to the England squad. According to reports, Newcastle United have placed Gomes at the top of their wishlist, but they’ll face competition from Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Borussia Dortmund for his signature.
Gomes’ contract is set to expire in the summer, making him a free transfer target for clubs looking to strengthen their midfield. He’s been praised for his constant availability, touch of the ball, and constant movement on the pitch.
Former United captain Roy Keane believes Gomes could be a great addition to the Reds’ midfield, saying: "He’s constantly available. There’s great options. There will probably be a bit of a headache for him."
Arsenal legend Ian Wright also weighed in, saying: "Angel Gomes. Jack [Grealish] and Trent [Alexander-Arnold] have been spoken about. Seeing Gomes in that midfield, constantly on the move. His touch of the ball. He’s constantly available. There’s great options. There will probably be a bit of a headache for him."
If Liverpool do make a move for Gomes, it could be a shrewd piece of business by the Reds. He’s a talented young player who could bring a new level of creativity and energy to the midfield.
