Liverpool Midfielder Causing Problems at Loan Club with Unhappy Teammates ‘Astonished’ with His Role

Liverpool allowed Stefan Bacjetic and Bobby Clark to leave for Austria in the summer, with the latter signing a permanent deal at the club. However, it seems like Clark’s new team is not impressed with the midfield duo’s performances, particularly Bacjetic’s.

According to Austrian newspaper the Krone, some Salzburg players are ‘astonished’ with their manager Pepijn Lijnders’ decision to start Bacjetic alongside Clark in the heart of midfield. The report suggests that the duo has not impressed in sporting terms, and some players have recently been puzzled about starting XI call-ups.

Bacjetic, 19, joined Salzburg on loan from Liverpool, and despite his promising start under Jurgen Klopp, his form has dipped significantly since his move to Austria. He has made five appearances, starting three matches, but his performances have been unconvincing. His debut was delayed due to visa issues, which has added to the pressure.

The situation was not helped by Salzburg’s 4-0 home defeat against French side Brest on Tuesday evening, with Clark starting and Bacjetic coming on as a late substitute. Despite the negativity around the result, Salzburg’s league form is still relatively impressive, with four wins, one draw, and a loss so far this term.

To add to the drama, Bacjetic was fined by the club after being late to a training session due to not being able to find his boots, according to Salzburg 24 via the Liverpool Echo. The 19-year-old was docked €500 (£416.72) the day before the game, as announced by Lijnders in Monday’s pre-match press conference.

The young midfielder is set to remain in Austria for the rest of the season and will be hoping to rekindle the form that once impressed Klopp after bursting onto the scene in 2022. However, his current situation is far from ideal, and he needs to turn things around quickly to regain the trust of his teammates and manager.
