Liverpool’s Plan to Replace Alisson Becker Revealed: Valencia’s Mamardashvili Next in Line?
In a surprising move, Liverpool are reportedly planning to replace their star goalkeeper Alisson Becker with Valencia’s Georgian sensation, Giorgi Mamardashvili. According to Spanish outlet Relevo, the Reds are prepared to make a €30m bid for the 24-year-old keeper, who impressed at the recent European Championships.
Mamardashvili’s impressive form for Georgia has caught the eye of many top clubs, and Liverpool seem to be leading the charge. With three years remaining on Alisson’s contract, the Brazilian is still considered one of the best goalkeepers in the world, but it appears the Reds are already planning for life after him.
But what does this mean for current Liverpool No 2, Caoimhin Kelleher? The Irishman has been impressive in cup competitions, but has admitted he needs regular first-team football to progress. With Mamardashvili potentially joining the fold, Kelleher’s future at Anfield looks uncertain.
"Mamardashvili is an excellent goalkeeper, and we’re big fans of his at Liverpool," said a source close to the club. "He’s got the potential to be a top-class goalkeeper, and we think he could be the perfect replacement for Alisson in the future."
But what about Kelleher? "We love Caoimhin at the club, and he’s been fantastic in his role," the source added. "However, if we can bring in someone like Mamardashvili, who has the potential to be a No 1, then we’ll have to reassess Caoimhin’s role at the club."
It’s a tricky situation for Liverpool, but one that they’ll have to navigate sooner rather than later. With the transfer window just around the corner, the Reds will be looking to strengthen their squad, and Mamardashvili could be the perfect addition.
